Clean a Clogged Showerhead With a Bag of Vinegar
· Mark Mendenhall
When half the showerhead holes spray sideways and the pressure feels weak, mineral deposits are clogging the nozzles. You don't need a new showerhead — you need a sandwich bag.
How to do it
- Fill a sturdy plastic bag halfway with white vinegar.
- Lift it up so the showerhead is fully submerged in the vinegar.
- Secure the bag to the neck with a rubber band or zip tie.
- Leave it overnight.
- Remove the bag, run the shower hot for a minute, and scrub any stubborn holes with an old toothbrush.
Pressure comes back like new. In hard-water areas like ours, do this every six months or so.
