Clean Window Blinds Fast With Tongs and Two Cloths
· Mark Mendenhall
Blinds are the most skipped cleaning job in the house because slat-by-slat with a rag takes forever. This homemade tool cuts the time by more than half.
Make the tool
- Wrap a microfiber cloth around each arm of a pair of kitchen tongs and secure with rubber bands.
- Lightly dampen the cloths with water (a drop of dish soap for kitchen-grease blinds).
- Clamp a slat between the tongs and slide across. Both sides cleaned in one pass.
- Rinse and re-wet the cloths as they load up with dust.
Work top to bottom so dust falls onto slats you haven't done yet. For a whole house of blinds, this turns an all-afternoon job into about an hour.
