Keep a Cutting Board From Sliding With a Damp Towel
· Mark Mendenhall
A cutting board that skates across the counter while you're holding a knife is an accident looking for a place to happen. Restaurants solved this long ago with one simple trick.
How to do it
- Wet a kitchen towel or paper towel, wring it out well, and lay it flat under the board.
- Or cut a piece of rubber shelf liner to fit under the board and store it with the board.
- Press down once to set it, then chop like normal.
The board stays planted even when you're breaking down a chicken or hacking through a squash. Costs nothing, takes ten seconds, saves fingers.
