Stop Cabinet Doors From Slamming With Felt Pads
· Mark Mendenhall
Slamming cabinet doors are hard on the hinges, the frames, and your nerves at 6 in the morning. The fix costs about two dollars and takes ten minutes for the whole kitchen.
What you need
- Self-adhesive felt or clear rubber bumper pads
- A rag and a little rubbing alcohol
How to do it
- Wipe the inside corners of each door frame where the door makes contact.
- Stick one pad at the top corner and one at the bottom corner of the frame.
- Close the door gently a few times to seat the pads.
Use the clear rubber pads on white cabinets — felt can show. Replace any that flatten out after a year or two.
