Store Seasonal Stuff in Clear Bins With the Label Facing Out
· Mark Mendenhall
Cardboard boxes in a hot Florida garage are an invitation to mold, silverfish, and mystery smells. Clear plastic bins with lids do the job better in every way.
Set it up right
- Use clear bins so you can see the contents at a glance — one category per bin.
- Write the contents in big letters on a card taped INSIDE the front of the bin, facing out. It never falls off like a lid label.
- Add a silica gel packet or two to each bin to fight garage humidity.
- Stack heavy bins low, and keep anything heat-sensitive (candles, electronics, photos) inside the house instead.
An afternoon of re-binning saves you twenty frustrated minutes every single time you need the Christmas lights or the beach gear.
