Grandpa’s Fishing Trip

A Rhyming Fishing Story for Grandpas and Grandkids Ages 3–6

Before the sun wakes up the sky, Grandpa tiptoes in to wake Benny for their first big fishing trip — and what a day it becomes! They pack the tackle box with worms, bait, and sandwiches, row out onto the misty lake, and laugh when Benny's very first cast lands his bobber in a tree. Then comes the real adventure: a nibble, a SPLASH, and a rod-bending fight with the biggest green-and-gold bass they've ever seen. Together they land it, admire it, and — in the sweetest moment of the book — set it free to swim back to its family, keeping "a picture in their hearts" instead.

Told in gentle rhyming couplets with a calm read-aloud rhythm, this 16-spread picture book is a love letter to grandpas everywhere: the patience of quiet waiting, the pride of guiding a little one's first cast, and tall fish tales on the sunset row home. Benny — brown hair, blue overalls, big curious eyes — and Grandpa — white beard, red flannel shirt, brown cap — are warm, consistent characters kids will recognize on every page.

A perfect gift for Grandparents' Day, Father's Day, birthdays, or just because — especially for fishing families and little boys who adore their grandpas. The soft watercolor illustrations glow with dawn light, misty water, and a golden sunset, with large easy-to-read text placed in open sky so it never covers the characters. About 550 words makes it an ideal one-sitting bedtime read that ends with a tender goodnight to the lake — and a promise to be back at daybreak.

Illustrations created with AI assistance and carefully art-directed for consistency; every page was hand-checked.
